Troopers: Painted Post man made ‘repeated’ fake 911 calls in 2025

PAINTED POST, NY (607NewsNow) — A Painted Post man is accused of filing false reports. 

State Police say 40-year-old Thomas Margeson repeatedly made fake calls to 911 and the New York State Child Abuse and Mistreatment hotline last year. 

Margeson was arrested Thursday, Jan. 1 and charged with a total of 30 misdemeanors:

  • 18 counts of Falsely Report Catastrophe Or Emergency To Official Agency- 3rd degree (A misdemeanor) in the town of Bath.
  • 12 counts of Falsely Reporting Child Abuse Incident to a Mandated Reporter – 3rd degree (A misdemeanor) in the village of Bath.

He’ll appear in Town of Bath Court on Feb. 2 and Village of Bath Court on Feb. 4.
