LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) — Tompkins County is sticking with its planned location for the Center of Government.

During a Lansing Town Board meeting on Oct. 15, Legislator Mike Sigler said the county had been considering multiple sites.

“We were looking at other places,” he said. “I would’ve liked to see maybe the airport, that was shot down.”

Sigler said the county also considered Harolds Square in Ithaca.

“I think that probably would’ve been half the price, but we couldn’t get the number of votes on the legislature to kind of move forward with that,” he said. “So that’s kind of dead in the water.”

The county is planning to construct the building on North Tioga Street in Ithaca.
