ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County lawmakers are recommending a 3.31% tax increase in 2026.

On October 8, at its final meeting, the Expanded Budget Committee (EBC) unanimously voted on a levy totaling $56,713,511, which officials estimate will amount to a $20.08 bump on a median-priced home.

On October 21, the full Tompkins County Legislature will vote on the EBC’s recommendation.

A public hearing on the tentative 2026 spending plan is scheduled for October 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the Legislature Chamber.

It will be streamed live on the county’s YouTube page.
