ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – An Ithaca man is facing drug charges.

On August 12, members of the Tompkins County Drug Task Force executed search warrants at 624 Chestnut Street and 216 Cypress Court in Ithaca as part of an investigation into narcotic sales.

Suspected cocaine, digital scales, and packaging materials were allegedly located at the Chestnut Street apartment. As a result, 43-year-old Omar Punter is charged with drug possession and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, both felonies. He was arraigned and remanded to Tompkins County Jail without bail. Additional charges are possible.

At 216 Cypress Court, officers located drug paraphernalia and “other contraband,” but no arrest was made after the search. However, police say the investigation is ongoing.

The Drug Task Force for this operation consisted of members of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, NYSP, Cayuga Heights Police Department, Groton Police Department, and IPD.
