OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – There’s a new lawmaker in Tioga County.

On December 18, the Tioga County Legislature held a special meeting, where they unanimously appointed David Cantella to fill a vacant seat.

Beginning January 1, Cantella will be the Legislator in District 3, representing the southside of the Susquehanna River in the Town of Owego. He takes over for former District 3 representative Barbara Roberts, who is leaving her seat to serve as Tioga County Treasurer.

Cantella’s term runs through the end of 2026. He will need to run in next year’s election if he wishes to serve beyond the current term.
