ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Recipients of SNAP benefits can catch a ride on a TCAT bus for free.

“We are proud to be part of what has quickly become a comprehensive community-wide effort to assist households struggling to put food on the table without that supplemental support from the federal government,” assistant GM Tiffany Walker said. “Public transportation is essential, particularly for low-income households who have no other alternatives to obtain basic goods and services.”

Walker added that anyone with an EBT card can show it to a driver on any TCAT route in service “with no questions asked” and get a free ride to and from grocery stores, food pantries, and other services until SNAP benefits are fully restored.
