ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Commuters should avoid Collegetown, if possible.

Contractors for the City of Ithaca have begun a milling and paving project on Dryden Road, which is closed in the 100 block, as well as the 300 to 500 blocks.

Posted detours are in place, and sidewalks remain open. That work is scheduled to finish one week from tomorrow.

Meantime, crews are also working in the adjacent Belle Sherman neighborhood on Cornell Street, which is closed from Mitchell Street to Valley Road. The project will continue through September 2.

Additionally, work continues to replace water and sewer lines in the 300 and 400 blocks of East Buffalo Street. City officials say roads in the surrounding area will be subject to lane reductions, including the North Aurora-East Buffalo Street intersection. The work is scheduled to finish on Halloween.
