ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – State Senator Lea Webb is encouraging people to voice their opinion to the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Webb wants District 52 residents to participate in upcoming public hearings regarding NYSEG’s proposed double-digit rate increases.

Attendees will have an opportunity to express opinions on the price hikes, service changes, and the potential impact on their household and community.

“I urge ratepayers to make their voices heard during the public comment period,” Senator Webb said. “This is an important opportunity for the public to voice their concerns on the record to make sure the PSC understands the effect that any further increase would have on their livelihoods. Families and small businesses across Upstate New York are struggling to pay high utility bills and cannot afford another double-digit rate hike.”

The PSC will be at Binghamton City Hall from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on October 7 and at Ithaca Town Hall from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on October 8.

A virtual meeting will be held on October 21. Registration is required by October 17.

Comments can also be submitted online, by mail, or over the phone until October 24. Learn more here.
