Preble OKs temporary bans on solar, wind energy systems

PREBLE, NY (607NewsNow) — A Cortland County town has passed several moratoriums.

On Sept. 14, lawmakers in Preble approved six-month bans on the development of solar energy systems, wind energy conversion systems, and battery energy storage systems. Each ban passed unanimously.

The moratoriums are intended to give the town more time to revise current regulations and study potential environmental impacts.

Preble Town Supervisor Nate Shirley said lawmakers will work “collaboratively” with the Preble Planning Board on drafting legislation.
