Possible murder under investigation in Cayuga Heights, chief says

CAYUGA HEIGHTS, NY (607NewsNow) — Police in Cayuga Heights are investigating a death.

In a statement sent through Tompkins County Sheriff Derek Osborne, Cayuga Heights Police Chief Jerry Wright says the death on Saturday, May 23 is being “treated as a murder.” A suspect is currently in custody.

“There is no threat to the community and the investigation is ongoing,” Wright said.

Sheriff Osborne says the investigation is being conducted by the Cayuga Heights Police Department. “During the course of this incident, our office assisted in handling other calls for service within the Cayuga Heights jurisdiction while their agency focused on the investigation,” Osborne stated.
