DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – A series of “smash-and-grab” crimes is under investigation in Tompkins County.

On October 1, State and local law enforcement received six reports of thefts from vehicles in Dryden and Lansing.

Offenders smashed out car windows to access valuables in the vehicles, including vehicles parked near Dryden Lake and Chaffee Road. Troopers say the incidents occurred between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and nearly all of them were near trails or pull-offs.

Authorities recommend removing all visible valuables from your car when parking and urge residents to report any suspicious activity.

Anyone with relevant information is asked to call the State Police at (607) 561-7400 and reference Case NY2500958553
