DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) – One person is injured, and another is facing a misdemeanor after a crash in Tompkins County.

On April 2, State Police were called to Slaterville Road in the Town of Dryden just before 9 a.m. for a tractor-trailer on its side.

Troopers say the operator was making a right turn onto Slaterville Road when the box truck left the roadway, struck an embankment and a tree, and rolled over. After allegedly showing signs of impairment and performing poorly on field sobriety tests, 48-year-old Augusto Joe Alvarez Hernandez, of Philadelphia, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

A 30-year-old passenger was transported to Cayuga Medical Center with facial injuries.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Varna Fire Department and a DEC Spill Response Team.
