Oberacker announces Congressional campaign in District 19

SCHENEVUS, NY (607NewsNow) – A potential new challenger in New York’s 19th Congressional District.

Senator Peter Oberacker announced Monday, Oct. 6 he will seek the Republican nomination in next year’s midterm elections in District 19.

The Otsego County native has served as the top official in State Senate District 51 since 2021.

If Oberacker wins the primary, he will challenge incumbent Democrat Josh Riley in 2026. Counties in District 19 include Tompkins, Tioga, Broome, and most of Cortland County.
