NICHOLS, NY (607NewsNow) – A Tioga County town is receiving support for an aging structure.

Nichols is getting nearly $154,000 for restoration work at the Cady Library & Carriage House.

The money will help replace the roof, windows, and doors at the historic building, as well as lay the groundwork for future interior improvements. The library is housed inside the Platt Mansion, which was built in 1828. It’s part of over $400 million in funding recently announced by the Regional Economic Development Council.

The Cady Library officially opened to the public as a library in 1941. Learn more about the library’s history here.
