ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Ithaca is close to filling a long-sought position.

Acting Ithaca City Manager Dominick Recckio said a search for the city’s next controller has concluded. He said Common Council members will soon receive a resolution related to the appointment of a “highly qualified” person.

Ithaca hasn’t had a controller since the retirement of Steve Thayer in 2023. Recckio called the controller a “key” leadership position.

The Common Council meets at 6 p.m. this evening at Ithaca City Hall.
