ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — City officials in Ithaca are addressing a big vacancy.

Mayor Robert Cantelmo tells 607 News Now interviews will start soon for a new city controller, but he’s also looking at the bigger picture.

In his State of the City address last week, Mayor Cantelmo said one of his main priorities for 2026 is catching up on audits. On the Jan. 16 edition of 607 This Morning, Cantelmo says he’s committed to getting the city’s finances “where they need to be.”

The position of city controller in Ithaca has remained unfilled since Dec. 2023.
