ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ithaca City School District is wrapping up a series of public conversations on the proposed 2026 capital project.

District officials will answer questions today about the proposed $43.9 million capital project, which requires approval from voters on Tuesday, May 19.

Funding

  • Financed through bonds, not the annual operating budget
  • Estimated state building aid reimbursement: approximately 58 percent ($25.46 million)
  • Estimated local share: approximately $18.44 million

Tax Impact

  • Maintains the ICSD’s current 7 percent debt service allocation
  • Does not increase the tax levy beyond existing capital debt commitments

Project Priorities

  • Facility Improvements
  • Health and Wellness
  • Sustainability

The latest conversation about the proposal is at noon today in the administration building’s board room. The final one is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 at the Enfield Community Center.
