HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) – There’s a new leader in the Homer Central School District.

At the June 9 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Jeff Evener resigned to pursue other career opportunities.

Todd Freeman, who retired from the Cincinnatus School District last summer, has been named interim superintendent by the school board.

Evener, who had been on medical leave since April, leaves the district after roughly five years. He was appointed superintendent in July 2025.

The move comes several months after the district announced large deficits in the upcoming budget cycles.
