GENOA, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cayuga County man is facing a child porn charge.

Zach Purington is accused of downloading illicit material onto a desktop computer while living in the Town of Genoa.

The 45-year-old was arrested on August 28 after police executed a search warrant at his home. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office began investigating allegations against him earlier this month.

Purington is charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child, which is a felony. The charge is not a bail-eligible offense in New York State, so Purington was released on an appearance ticket to Genoa Town Court at a later date.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at (315) 253-1222 or submit a tip online.
