ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A popular sale has returned to the Ithaca area.

Tompkins County Probation Director Dan Cornell says the annual sale, which is happening at the Shops at Ithaca Mall near Target, is operating under a new name this year – Project Recollect.

“If people are seeing Project Recollect, that is Dump and Run now,” said Cornell. “The name, apparently, was trademarked by another entity, so we’re legally required to change the name.”

Cornell, whose community service clients are heavily involved with the sale, says it’s shaping up to be a big one.

“We have more things for sale than ever before,” added Cornell. “All the proceeds from that are donated back to the community to fund Cops, Kids and Toys and other not-for-profits.”

Primarily stocked by leftover items from Cornell University, the weeklong sale is open to students today through Wednesday, August 19.

The general public is invited to shop beginning August 20. The final day, August 23, will be Bag Day, when shoppers can purchase a large, heavy-duty bag for $25 and fill it with whatever fits.

Additionally, items that do not fit in bags on Bag Day will be 50% off. Learn more about Project Recollect here.
