SUMMERHILL, NY (607NewsNow) – Five people in Cayuga County have been charged with animal cruelty.

The Auburn Citizen reports Robert and Adrianne Chambers, Robert Chambers Jr., Michael Chambers, and Rose Bush all face multiple counts of animal cruelty following the seizure of 17 dogs and several other pets at a Summer Hill home in December.

On December 18, authorities visited the property on Lake Como Road after receiving a tip about the conditions at the residence.  The dogs were found chained with little mobility and no food or water. Also taken from the home were rabbits, chickens, snakes, cats, a gerbil, a guinea pig, and a turtle.

Each count of animal cruelty is punishable by up to 364 days in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
