HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) — The cause of a house fire in the village of Homer is under investigation.

Heavy fire was seen around 11:15 a.m. Sunday by firefighters on James Street. After more than an hour, the fire was brought under control.

“Fire crews made entry through the front door and encountered heavy fire conditions. The department’s aerial apparatus was deployed as an elevated master stream to knock down the bulk of the fire. Once conditions improved, crews advanced interior lines and continued suppression efforts,” officials said.

One firefighter suffered a leg injury and is being treated, but no other injuries have been reported.
