OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – A fatal crash in the Southern Tier is under investigation.

On June 3, State Police were called to Owego just before 4 a.m. for an SUV-motorcycle collision at the intersection of State Route 434 and Forest Hill Road.

Troopers say the SUV entered the intersection and the driver did not see the bike, which struck the side of the vehicle. Life-saving measures were conducted at the scene, but the motorcycle operator was pronounced dead. The identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The SUV operator was transferred to Wilson Medical Center for treatment and is cooperating with authorities.

State Route 434 was closed for several hours but has since reopened. More information will be released as it becomes available.
