BINGHAMTON, NY (607NewsNow) — A dog is safe from a burning house in Binghamton.

Firefighters were called early Monday morning to a structure fire on Montgomery St. Authorities say flames were discovered in the two-story home’s rear kitchen.

After knocking down the fire, crews searched for people inside. All they found was a dog on the second floor.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.
