Deputies: Armed Groton man surrendered after standoff in Marathon

MARATHON, NY (607NewsNow) — An armed man in Marathon faces two felony charges.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office says Corey Marquis illegally entered the residence around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, March 5 and barricaded himself inside. Deputies say the 42-year-old Groton man had a shotgun.

After a standoff that lasted several hours, authorities say Marquis surrendered himself. He’s charged with felony burglary, possession of a weapon, and the following misdemeanors:

Menacing 2nd Degree
Criminal Mischief 4th Degree
Endangering the Welfare of a Child – 2 Counts
