UPDATE 2 P.M. 7/16 – The Air Quality Index has increased to a level that is considered very unhealthy for all individuals. Avoid physical activities outdoors.

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Today is another day of poor air quality in the Southern Tier.

New York’s DEC has issued an air quality advisory through midnight for Ithaca, Cortland, and Owego areas. Hundreds of wildfires across Canada are blowing smoke across the northeast.

Elevated pollution levels can be harmful to people with respiratory issues. It’s suggested that strenuous outdoor activity be limited.
