NEWFIELD, NY (607NewsNow) – No major damage after a fire in Newfield.

On August 19, members of the Newfield Fire Department responded to a reported brush fire “with a large amount of smoke in the area.”

The Newfield Brush Fire and Rescue Unit stopped the blaze before it spread to a larger area.

Recently, parts of Central New York were added to the U.S. Drought Monitor for “abnormally dry” conditions after an extended period of minimal rainfall.
