Crews search for missing person on Cayuga Lake, one rescued

OVID, NY (607NewsNow) – One person is safe, and another is missing after an accident on Cayuga Lake.

On August 17, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that a kayak capsized near the 7000 block of County Route 153 in Ovid around 1:30 a.m.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, locals heard calls for help and rescued one person. They were unable to locate the other.

Multiple law enforcement agencies and fire departments are actively searching for the second individual.

No further information has been released.
