ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Be on the lookout for a coyote near Cornell.

On August 25, the Cornell Police Department says someone was bitten around 6:45 p.m. near the Trolley Foot Bridge on the Upper Cascadilla Gorge Trail.

Anyone who sees the animal, which looks like a medium-sized dog with a grey fur coat, is asked to contact Tompkins County Environmental Health at (607) 274-6688. If the animal is located and observed to be healthy, officials can rule out post-exposure rabies treatment for the victim.

In related news, a bat found last Friday afternoon at Buttermilk Falls State Park has tested positive for rabies.
