Cortland PD arrests suspect in April apartment robbery, burglary

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Following an arrest last week in Cortland, a 32-year-old man is scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. Police say Billy Foster was arrested Thursday, May 7 just hours after they issued an arrest warrant.

“Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence of forced entry and property damage at the residence. The investigation determined that suspect Billy J. Foster allegedly forced entry into the apartment by breaking a glass window in the door. Once inside, Foster allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with a resident, prevented the resident from contacting 911, damaged property within the apartment, and stole the victim’s cellular phone before fleeing the scene,” according to the Cortland Police Department.

Foster has been charged with the following:

Burglary (felony)
Robbery (felony)
Criminal mischief – third degree (felony)
Criminal mischief – fourth degree (misdemeanor)
Resisting arrest (misdemeanor)
Harassment – second degree (violation)
