Cortland man found with stolen gun, police say

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — A 35-year-old Cortland man is accused of stealing a gun. 

Lawrence Nemecek was arrested Thursday, March 26 after officers located two guns illegally possessed, one of which had been reported stolen.

“The original firearm that was reported stolen was classified as an Assault Weapon under NYS Penal Law. The victim was not home at the time of the larceny and is cooperating fully with the investigation,” police said in a press release.

Nemecek was charged with multiple felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one felony count of possession of stolen property. He’ll appear in court this morning at 10.
