Cornell men’s hockey advances to NCAA Tournament, IC diver repeats as champion

The Cornell men’s hockey team is celebrating a conference championship. On Saturday, the Big Red beat Clarkson 3-1 in the ECAC title game. Cornell is now preparing for the NCAA Tournament. The team will face Michigan State in Toledo, Ohio on Thursday. The puck will drop at 5:30 p.m. with pregame coverage beginning at 5 p.m. on WHCU.

The Cornell women’s hockey team came up short in the national semifinal. The Big Red fell to Ohio State 4-2. Cornell Head Coach Doug Derraugh said he’s “proud” of the team.

Ithaca College has a national champion in the pool. Senior Kailee Payne placed first on the 3-meter and 1-meter diving boards at the NCAA Division III National Championships. It’s her second straight season as national champion in both events.

It was an awesome weekend for the Ithaca College baseball team. The Bombers swept St. Lawrence in a three-game series. Ithaca looks for another win today at St. John Fisher. The first pitch is at 3:30 p.m.

Back-to-back losses for the SUNY Cortland baseball team. On Saturday, the Red Dragons lost both games of a doubleheader against Oswego.

The Giants have a new quarterback. Jameis Winston is joining the team on a two-year deal worth $8 million. Last season, he threw 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for the Browns.

Five straight wins for the Binghamton Black Bears. The team defeated Watertown on Friday and Saturday.

It was an up-and-down weekend for the Syracuse Crunch. The team outscored Lehigh Valley on Friday, then fell to Rochester on Saturday.
