ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The men’s lacrosse team at Cornell University is getting a new addition.

Head Coach Connor Buczek announced Monday the hiring of Danny Murphy as an assistant coach. “We’re thrilled to add Danny to our coaching staff,” Buczek said. “He is a rising star in the coaching profession that brings great energy and great experience. We know he will have a tremendous impact on the future of Cornell Lacrosse.”

Murphy joins the Big Red with 8 years of coaching experience. Most recently, he was associate head coach and offensive coordinator at Vermont.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the Cornell Lacrosse coaching staff,” Murphy said. “I have always admired the Cornell Lacrosse program for its storied tradition and incredible culture and I am so excited to help contribute to its success. I can’t wait to get to work with the incredible coaching staff, student athletes, and Cornell Community.”

In the 2026 season, Cornell was 11-5 in men’s lacrosse.
