ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Some nurses in Ithaca are forming a union.

The Ithaca Times reports over 350 Cayuga Medical Center registered nurses have created Cayuga-United CWA, part of the Communications Workers of America.

Union officials say understaffing at CMC has resulted in poor conditions since the COVID-19 pandemic. The new union seeks a contract that guarantees safe staffing that protects both nurses and patients.
