VESTAL, NY (607NewsNow) — The newest head coach at Binghamton University is hungry to recruit.

Jeff Melesky was recently hired to lead the women’s flag football team. During a press conference on Aug. 6, Melesky said he’s eager to scout local athletes.

“I can’t wait to see this talent around here,” he said. “I can’t wait.”

Melesky said the campus is full of prospective players.

“I believe we’ve got plenty of athletes that are here that are going to help fill up our program,” he said. “I’m excited to find those diamonds in the rough.”

Melesky, who’s coached flag football at Webber International University in Florida for the past six years, said it’ll be “very easy” to recruit players from the Sunshine State.

Melesky has over a year to field a team; Binghamton begins competition in spring 2028.
