BARTON, NY (607NewsNow) — A Tioga County town has new water rates.

On Jan. 12, the Barton Town Board unanimously approved an immediate increase. To view the new rates, click here.

According to the adopted resolution, the increase is meant to reflect the “financial realities” of operating and maintaining the water system.

It’s the second time in recent months the rates have gone up: Barton lawmakers approved a similar increase in September 2025.
