Barton creates cemetery maintenance program

BARTON, NY (607NewsNow) — A Tioga County town will have cleaner graveyards.

On Aug. 10, lawmakers in Barton established a volunteer cemetery maintenance and cleanup program. All volunteers must register with the town clerk before participating.

Barton Cemetery Commissioner Fred Schweiger will be tasked with approving cleanup activities. The town has nearly a dozen cemeteries; click here for a complete list.
