ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Multiple people were taken into custody after the execution of multiple search warrants in Ithaca.

On January 9, the Ithaca Police Department conducted a coordinated operation at Arthaus, which IPD initially referred to as narcotics-related.

According to Ithaca Police Chief Tom Kelly, who says the actions were taken “with the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals as a primary focus,” it was the culmination of a six-month investigation. Kelly added at least one individual, an employee of Arthaus, was taken into custody “related to their alleged role in furthering the exploitation of vulnerable individuals residing in the building.”

IPD was assisted by the FBI, NYSP, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, and Cornell University Police.

As of 10 p.m. Friday, evidence is still being processed, and no further information has been released. The Investigation remains ongoing.
