ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Tompkins County Jail is seeing its first cases of COVID-19.
The Ithaca Voice reports seven jailed inmates have tested positive over the last month. However, because of the relatively low numbers in the jail, there has been room to properly isolate the positive cases from the general population.
Tompkins County Sheriff Derek Osborne says while they have passed the 10-day isolation requirement, they’re keeping the positive cases isolated for a full 14 days to be safe. Osborne also says there hasn’t been a new positive case in the last few days.
