MARATHON, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Marathon Central School District aims to make transportation more eco-friendly.

School officials plan to buy three electric buses. Federal funding would cover most of the cost – the district would contribute $150,000. Officials tell WHCU the buses would take about a year to arrive.

A public vote on the proposal happens Monday at Marathon High School from noon to 8 PM.
