ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A local farmers market will receive recognition.

Tompkins County legislators are preparing to proclaim August as Ithaca Farmers Market Month. Officials say the operation attracts over 5,000 customers on busy weekends. Legislators add the market strengthens the local economy, and increases food security.

The legislature meets at 5:30 PM on Tuesday to present the proclamation.
