IHS’ Welch resigns on brink of football season

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Just weeks away from the season opener, Ithaca High School’s varsity football team is without a leader on its coaching staff.

Little Red Head Coach Clarence Welch III has resigned, effective immediately. Welch’s replacement has not yet been announced. The team is slated to begin practice on August 21. The season opener against Jamesville-Dewitt is scheduled for September 2 in Homer. Kick-off is at 9:00 a.m.
