ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cornell athletic team is returning to competition.

On March 10, the Big Red men’s lightweight rowing team was reinstated, though according to Athletics Director Dr. Nicki Moore, it will be a “phased return.”

The Cornell Daily Sun reports the temporary suspension was lifted after close collaboration with the team’s head coach and Moore’s office, allowing “most” team members to resume training after completing “initial, reasonable steps needed to lay the foundation for meaningful culture rebuilding.”

Originally suspended on February 4, the details of the incident that prompted the group’s suspension were never shared publicly.

The team is expected to miss one competition before returning in April and is subject to a 3-year probationary period.
