UPDATE: Body found on shore line of Cayuga Lake identified

Sheriff’s deputies in Seneca County say the body of a 54 year old Horseheads man was found on the western shore of Cayuga Lake in Ovid Saturday morning.

Deputies got a call about a body that was found around 11 a.m. near County Road 153 and Deerlick Springs Road.

Deputies say the body has been identified as Douglas Laughlin.

An autopsy was performed on Sunday at the Onondaga County Medical Examiners Office.

Preliminary autopsy results show Laughlin died by accidental drowning.
